Buying for someone witchy is harder than it looks. Most of what comes up in a search is either costume (pointed hats, plastic cauldrons) or so generic it could be for anyone. The gifts that land are the ones that feel like they were chosen for that person: their card, their moon, their goddess.
This guide works in two steps. First, match a design to the person. Then pick the piece that fits your budget.
Step 1: match the card to the person
Every Witch Veil design belongs to one of five collections. Think about the person you are buying for and find them below.
For the tarot reader
The Veil of Arcana holds four major arcana cards. The High Priestess suits the quiet, intuitive friend who always knows before you tell her. The Moon is for the one who is at home in the dark. The Star is a good choice for someone coming out of a hard year. The Tower is for the person who just quit, moved or started over. If you are not sure which card they would pick, our guide to what these four tarot cards mean will help.
For the moon watcher
Daughters of the Moon gives each phase its own design: Dark Moon, Full Moon Queen, The Huntress and Lunar Eclipse. It is the easiest collection to buy from if all you know is that they love the night sky.
For the goth or the dark feminine
The Dark Feminine draws four goddesses who did not ask permission: Lilith, Hecate, The Morrigan and Circe. It is the boldest collection and the one for the friend who dresses in black on purpose. Read more about who these goddesses are.
For the green witch or the plant lover
The Grimoire is poison botany drawn like an old spell book: The Poison Garden, The Mandrake, The Serpent's Wisdom and Sigil and Smoke. It is our safest gift collection, because it reads as witchy to people who know and simply beautiful to everyone else, including the mother-in-law.
For the astrology fan
Cosmic Witch is for the friend who knows your rising sign: Saturn's Crown, Third Eye Opened, The Void and Celestial Chart.
Step 2: choose by budget
Under $30: small, easy, still personal
- Mini wallet ($29.95). Cards, cash and coins in a pocket-size zip. The most popular small gift, and it fits in a stocking.
- Makeup bag ($29.95). A zip pouch for brushes and lipsticks, or for tarot decks, crystals and incense.
Under $70: the everyday piece
- Long wallet ($39.95). A zip-around wallet with room for cards, cash and a phone.
- Tote bag ($69.95). A shoulder tote that fits a 13 inch laptop, for the friend who carries everything.
The statement gift: a handbag
A Witch Veil handbag starts at $79.95 for the small size and comes in three vegan leathers. It is the piece people stop her in the street to ask about. Every handbag order also includes the matching long wallet free, added to the cart automatically, so you are really giving two gifts. If you want to add a third piece for yourself, it is 40% off.
A few practical notes
- Order early. Every piece is printed and sewn after you order it, which takes 5 to 7 days before it ships. Leave yourself room before a birthday or the holidays.
- Not sure of the design? Pick the collection that fits them and go with the Arcana Card edition, the classic tarot card frame. It is the most versatile.
- Not sure of the size? The medium handbag is the everyday choice; the small is for evenings and lighter carry.
Still deciding? Browse every design in one place and let a card choose you.
